PRIORITIES

Looking Ahead: Priorities for the Next Four Years

Barbara Baca is focused on delivering real, measurable progress for Bernalillo County—while standing up for all our families and the values that unite us.

Addressing Homelessness & Behavioral Health

Barbara will continue pursuing real, tangible solutions to homelessness by expanding affordable housing across the county and strengthening behavioral and mental health services. Her approach centers on prevention, treatment, and long-term stability—ensuring people have access to housing and the support they need to succeed.

Public Safety & Community Well-Being

Barbara is committed to improving public safety by fully funding the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and strengthening collaboration between the City and County to deliver faster, more coordinated emergency response and better service to the community—while ensuring public safety efforts build trust and protect civil rights.

Standing Up for All Our Families

At a time of growing national uncertainty, Barbara will continue standing up for all our families—united against dangerous national immigration policies that would tear families apart and create fear in our communities. She believes everyone deserves to feel safe accessing services, schools, and local government, regardless of where they come from.

Economic Development & Good-Paying Jobs

Barbara will promote economic development that builds a strong local workforce by expanding apprenticeship and job-training programs, supporting local and small businesses through targeted economic development funds, and creating long-term, good-paying jobs that allow families to thrive.

Parks, Open Space & Quality of Life

Barbara will continue investing in parks, recreation, open space, and trails by developing a truly regional system that serves elders, families, youth, and future generations. Her priorities include protecting natural and cultural resources—clean air, water, and open space—while expanding healthy outdoor opportunities for all.
